Ingredients
Steps
Whisk the flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar together in a large bowl.
Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk, mixing quickly with your hands until it just comes together into a shaggy, sticky dough.
Turn onto a floured surface and shape gently into a round loaf, without kneading too much.
Place on a floured baking sheet and cut a deep cross into the top with a knife.
Bake at 200°C / 400°F for 40-45 minutes until the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Cool on a rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
