Privacy Policy
Private beta · Last updated August 2026
Plain English version: we keep what we need to make the site work, we don't sell anything about you, and you can delete your account whenever you like.
What we collect
- Account information — your email address and sign-in details, handled by our authentication provider.
- Saved recipes — anything you add to My Cookbook, including recipes you imported or generated.
- Shopping list — the items you add. On a signed-out device this stays in your browser.
- Preferences — dietary preferences, ingredients to avoid, and allergies you choose to enter.
- Feedback — the message you send us, plus the page you were on, whether you were signed in, and basic browser and device information.
What we do with it
We use your information only to:
- Provide and secure your account
- Save and show your cookbook items
- Remember your preferences so new recipes come back the way you cook
- Improve the product
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
AI and recipe processing
- When you ask for a recipe to be generated, your request is sent to trusted AI providers that write the recipe. It is sent for that purpose only.
- When you paste a recipe link, we fetch that page and process its contents to produce the simplified version you see.
- Imported and generated recipes stay private to you. They are not published, not shown to other users, and are never included in GDR Favorites.
Analytics
We record anonymous product analytics — things like "a recipe was opened" or "cook mode was entered" — tied to a random identifier stored in your browser, not to your name or email. We deliberately do not send recipe prompts, allergies, preferences, cookbook contents, or imported recipe text into analytics.
Error logs
When something breaks we record a short technical entry with an error code, a timestamp, and a correlation ID so we can find it again. These entries are scrubbed: no passwords, no authentication tokens, no API keys, no email addresses, no allergy or preference values, and no recipe or imported page contents. Logs are kept short-term for debugging, not as an archive.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in, to hold your shopping list, and to store the anonymous analytics identifier. Clearing your browser storage clears all three.
Your choices
- Edit or clear your dietary preferences at any time on the Preferences page.
- Delete your account, cookbook, and preferences from the Account page. Deletion is permanent.
- Ask us anything about your data at privacy@gimmethedamnrecipe.com.
Children
This site isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly create accounts for them.
Changes
This is a private beta and this policy will change as the product does. Meaningful changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
